Yes, hell is a very real place and more terrible than we can imagine. The bible speaks many times about hell, and we know that the Bible is true whether we like what it is saying or not. Jesus spoke many times about hell referring to it as a place of eternal torment (Luke 16:23), where people will weep and gnash their teeth in anguish (Matt 13:42), a place of darkness (Matt 25:30) and where the maggots never die (Mark 9:48). Jesus spoke about hell as a warning to people because He came to earth to rescue man from hell, by dying on the cross for us offering us heaven as the better option.
God is a loving God and never sends anyone to hell, but people who reject His Son Jesus Christ are rejecting life in heaven with God and choosing hell. God created hell for the devil and his demons and not for human beings whom He made in His own image. Choose life, choose Jesus, choose heaven.
